SEQUOIA CAPITAL EVENTS PRIVACY NOTICE
Last Updated: October 25, 2026
Sequoia Capital Operations, LLC and its affiliates ("Sequoia," "we," "us," or "our") host events, including networking sessions, speaker series, founder programs, and student and recruiting events (each, an "Event"). This Events Privacy Notice ("Notice") explains how we collect, use, disclose, and retain personal information about people who register for, attend, or otherwise participate in our Events, whether in person, virtually, or in a hybrid format.
This Notice supplements our general Privacy Policy available at sequoiacap.com/sequoia-privacy-policy. If there is a conflict between this Notice and our Privacy Policy with respect to Events, this Notice controls.
As used in this Notice, "personal information" means information that identifies, relates to, describes, or could reasonably be linked to you. It does not include de-identified or aggregated information.
1. PERSONAL INFORMATION WE COLLECT
INFORMATION YOU PROVIDE TO US
- Identifiers and contact details: name, email address, phone number, mailing address, and social media or professional profile links (such as LinkedIn or GitHub).
- Professional and employment information: company, title, industry, and work history.
- Education information: school, degree program, major, and expected graduation date.
- Application and recruiting materials: your resume or CV, cover letter, portfolio, responses to application questions, and areas of interest. For recruiting-oriented Events, we may also ask for your date of birth (for example, to confirm eligibility or age requirements) and work authorization status.
- Event preferences and accommodations: session selections, dietary restrictions, and accessibility or accommodation requests. Some of this information (for example, information about a disability or health condition) may be sensitive, and we use it only to provide the requested accommodation.
- Communications: questions, feedback, survey responses, and other content you share with us before, during, or after an Event.
INFORMATION COLLECTED AT OR DURING THE EVENT
- Check-in and attendance data: confirmation of attendance, check-in time, badge information, and, where used, badge or QR-code scans.
- Photographs, video, and audio: images and recordings of you captured by us or our vendors at in-person Events, and recordings of virtual sessions, including your name, image, voice, chat messages, and questions.
- Security information: information needed to manage venue access and safety, such as government ID verification where required by a venue, and CCTV operated by the venue.
INFORMATION COLLECTED AUTOMATICALLY
When you use our registration pages, event apps, or virtual event platforms, we and our service providers may automatically collect device and usage information, such as IP address, browser type, pages viewed, links clicked, session join and leave times, and whether you open our emails. We may use cookies and similar technologies for this purpose, as further described in our Privacy Policy.
INFORMATION FROM THIRD PARTIES
We may receive information about you from event co-hosts and co-sponsors, university career offices or student organizations, event platform and registration providers, referrers, and publicly available sources such as professional networking sites.
2. HOW WE USE PERSONAL INFORMATION
- Event administration: to process registrations, confirm eligibility, manage capacity and waitlists, send logistics and updates, check you in, issue badges, and provide accommodations.
- Recruiting and talent evaluation: for recruiting-oriented Events, to review your resume and application materials, assess your fit for opportunities at Sequoia or, where you agree, at our portfolio companies, and contact you about those opportunities.
- Networking: to facilitate introductions among attendees, speakers, and Sequoia team members.
- Event content and promotion: to record sessions and to use photographs and recordings in event materials, on our website, in newsletters, and on our social media channels.
- Marketing follow-up: to send you post-Event materials, surveys, invitations to future Events, and news about Sequoia, consistent with your choices.
- Improvement and analytics: to understand attendance and engagement and improve our Events.
- Safety, security, and legal compliance: to protect attendees, staff, and venues; to prevent fraud or misuse; to enforce our terms or codes of conduct; and to comply with applicable law and legal process.
3. PHOTOGRAPHY, RECORDING, AND SOCIAL MEDIA
Our Events may be photographed, filmed, recorded, or livestreamed. By attending an Event in a space where recording is taking place, you acknowledge that your image, voice, and likeness may be captured and used as described in this Notice. Where practical, we will post signage at in-person Events and give notice at the start of virtual sessions when recording is taking place.
If you prefer not to be photographed or featured, please tell a member of the event team at check-in (we may provide a visual indicator such as a lanyard or sticker) or email us at the address below. We will make reasonable efforts to honor your request, but we cannot guarantee you will not appear in wide or crowd shots, and we cannot control photos or posts taken by other attendees. If you post about an Event on social media, the platform's own privacy policy and terms apply to that content.

6. DATA RETENTION
We keep personal information for as long as reasonably necessary for the purposes described in this Notice, including to run the Event, follow up with attendees, maintain business records, and meet legal obligations.
7. SECURITY
We have implemented administrative, technical, and physical safeguards designed to protect personal information. However, no method of transmission or storage is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
8. YOUR STATE PRIVACY RIGHTS
